Administer daily operations of the Animal Services Division, responsible for the direct supervision of the staff, work scheduling, planning and day to day execution of duties.


  • Develop and monitor standard operating procedures for the Animal Services Division and coordinate the implementation of policies necessary for its operation

  • Develop and administer budget for Animal Services operations; approve expenditures; negotiate contracts with outside service providers

  • Plan, organize, supervise and inspect the work of employees within the Animal Services Division; keeps staff current of policy changes

  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate personnel within assigned areas of responsibility; make work assignments and schedules; address employee problems, issues and concerns

  • Manage maintenance of building, equipment and vehicles used the operation of Animal Services

  • Prepare and submit written and oral reports to the Community Services Director, Board of County Commissioners, citizen groups, and the general public and media

  • Coordinate efforts and maintain consistent communication with Citrus County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Division

  • Respond to and coordinate with public and private service providers for the division

  • Develop and maintain a Volunteer Program to assist with Shelter activities/tasks including identifying volunteer opportunities, implementing volunteer schedules, and providing appropriate training

  • Drive and operate County vehicle

  • Perform related duties as required

Required Qualifications :

Education, Training and Experience:
Requires Bachelor's degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college. Two years related work experience required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Skills:
Valid Florida Driver License for required travel. Must have or be able to obtain within six months certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses 100C, 200B, 700A and 800B as well as G300 and G400 as courses become available.

Salary:  $2,090.33 - $3,135.52 Biweekly
