To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals and objectives. Reports to Principal or Assistant Principal at assigned location.

The preferred candidate will have up to date working knowledge of automotive electrical systems, engine repair, brake systems, heating and air conditioning systems, automotive drive trains and axles, engine performance analysis, suspensions and steering systems.

An Instructor is principally charged with presenting prepared materials, supervising organized shop activities, maintaining order, recording student progress, and assuring the presence of adequate supplies and equipment to conduct shop activities in a safe and effective manner. Such typical duties and responsibilities that the Instructor is charged with, but not limited to, are as follows:


  • Develop, organize, and present instructional materials at scheduled times and places.

  • Maintain communications with students and colleagues to assure efficient and effective instruction.

  • Preserve records of student attendance, student progress, and departmental equipment as assigned to instructor, and others.

  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment, build professional skill through participation in professional learning communities, and modify curriculum or instruction to build student achievement.

  • Utilize District assessments and curriculum calendars effectively to assess and monitor student performance.

  • Engage in continuing professional growth and keep abreast of recent developments in education through required in-service, voluntary in-service opportunities, collaborative opportunities, graduate classes, and/or research.

  • Support school and District improvement initiatives


Required Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree, vocational, technical or specialized training

  • Eligible for Certification by the State of Florida or District vocational certification.

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position.

  • 5+ years experience in the automotive industry, ASE Master Certified, preferred

  • Valid Florida Driver's license required for travel


Work Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week

Salary: $38,200.00 to - $58,850.00 (contract)
