Job Description :
Local employer in Ocala, Florida, is seeking a Director of Rail & Intermodal Services. This individual will strategically lead the intermodal team, building financial performance and ensuring metrics are met or exceeded, while cultivating a global network of business partners within the transportation and logistics industry. Successful candidate will have full supply chain knowledge with extensive intermodal and rail experience within a 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) brokerage environment.

 


Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Identify potential customers and drive a sales plan strategy for cold calling, qualifying, and effectively connecting with prospective business partners

  • Leverage existing carrier relationships and develop new carriers to deliver the solutions crafted for customers

  • Interact and build drayage vendors and carrier base to expand intermodal business

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the company's specialty services, internal resources, competitive strategies, and customer requirements

  • Generate creative 3PL solutions to meet customer's supply chain needs.

  • Convey and report the intermodal team and individuals accountability back to key leadership members

  • Ensure all division and team sales goals and profit margins are met

  • Deliver clear expectations promoting a positive work environment that is challenging and engaging

  • Proactively address concerns, conflicts, and interactions with team members

  • Ability to anticipate and facilitate problem resolution on all load issues to meet or exceed required service levels

  • Ability to work independently while supporting an overall team mentality

  • An analytical approach to logistics planning and creatively solve challenges

  • Ability to effectively negotiate with customers in regards to market freight rates

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external business partners

  • Ability to make business decisions in a complex environment under pressure

  • Exude a competitive nature and a desire to surpass existing goals


Required Qualifications :


  • Bachelor Degree in Business with emphasis in Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Transportation, Sales and Marketing, International Business or other related field or relative work related experience

  • Minimum of five to seven years of previous sales and operations experience in the rail industry, including areas of drayage, ramp to ramp, port operations, and cargo/containers

  • Must have a working knowledge of the third party logistics model and or freight forwarding

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate and present professional proposals

  • Must have experience in managing teams and building interpersonal relationships

  • Highly analytical with above average computer and networking skills
