Mid Florida Regional Manufacturing Association (MRMA) seeks an Executive Director to lead North Central Florida manufacturing initiatives and to ensure continued comprehensive planning and synergistic efforts to meet the ever-changing needs in the manufacturing industry. Besides managing the business of the association, this position works much more closely with its members and all manufacturers and distribution centers in Citrus, Levy, Sumter, and Marion Counties to understand their training requirements, helps identify training providers, and helps to identify grants to assist the member companies in funding the training. The Executive Director also directs outreach activities to schools regarding careers in manufacturing and logistics to help fill the pipeline with future employees for the manufacturing and logistics industries.
In this role, the Executive Director will:

  • Work in close partnership with county agencies to ensure investments in manufacturing workforce development programs are aligned with the industry needs.

  • Work with appropriate parties to develop an education consortium to implement a joint strategy in ensuring North Central Floridas workforce development systems have support for established programs, in the right areas, training with the right skills in order to meet the industrys needs and provide viable career opportunities for unemployed and underemployed workers.

  • Engage industry partners in the development and launch of Apprenticeship, a skilled occupation education and on the job training program to meet the changing hiring and skill needs of the manufacturing industry.

  • Continued endorsement of experiential learning programs to mutually benefit employers and workers.


  • Goals of position include working to ensure that North Central Florida manufacturing businesses can find the talent needed to thrive and grow and are equipped with the skills and qualifications needed to access jobs with family sustaining wages.

  • Industry Partnerships are intermediaries between industry, government, organized labor, academia, philanthropy, community-based organizations and training providers that work together to drive the economic vitality of North Central Florida through the development of a superior talent pool that is inclusive of all.

  • Mid Florida Manufacturing Association brings together disparate entities of the Manufacturing and Logistics ecosystem to address the industrys rapidly changing labor force needs and the business environment of North Central Florida.

  • The mission is to build an ecosystem in North Central Florida that supports the growth and sustainability of manufacturing businesses.

    • MRMA develops sufficient physical and policy infrastructure investments to support the needs of its communities.

    • Equips business leaders and workers with the skills necessary to work in and sustain a modern flexible business.

    • Key in this role is the ability to develop a culture of adaptation into all modes of operations

Responsibilities and Duties:
The Executive Directors core responsibilities include:

  • Provides a source of contact for MRMA regarding general information about MRMA and its activities.

  • Notifications to MRMA members of meetings and scheduled events.

  • Maintain and update MRMA membership lists, rosters, and related information on local members.

  • Assist the Membership Chair with invoicing for annual membership dues and related administrative functions.

  • Assist the Communication Chair in sending out emails to membership and assist in updating the website as necessary.

  • Provide monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable, making deposits in MRMA account as necessary.

  • Attendance at monthly MRMA Board of Directors meeting, including transcription of meetings and ordering lunch.

  • Attendance at monthly programs/tours to check in attendees, invoice attendees and/or receive payments for lunch and arrange catering.

  • Assist Program Chair with invoicing for monthly and annual events (golf tournament, vendor fair, holiday social) and related administrative function; and Follow-up with accounts receivable and accounts payable.

  • Key job responsibilities include: Build the capacity of education and training providers to understand the industrys needs, build stackable career pathways, and mobilize key audiences and members

    • Inform strategy development across the industry partners, employers, and with the Workforce Development Leaders.

    • Support industry research and labor market intelligence to inform new curriculum development and program design, inform strategy and the launch of new training initiatives.

    • Manage ongoing cultivation of key members, including a diverse representation of industry leaders, program providers, funders, county government partners, and community-based organizations.

The Executive Director will act as Government Affairs Chair and represent MRMA before government officials at the local, state and national levels as needed.
Track legislative issues and report back to the MRMA board and membership on issues affecting manufacturers.

Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m.  Works primarily in an office environment

Salary: $44,460 - $60,000 per annum depending on experience.  Exempt position, Benefits

Required Qualifications :

  • BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing management with at least 2 years in a senior, external-facing role.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.

  • Strong understanding of impacts of manufacturing policy at the Federal, State and County level.

  • Experience with manufacturing and logistics workforce development and working with educational and training institutions.

  • Demonstrated project management experience; proven ability to execute complex projects with multiple participants.

  • Experience in planning and managing programs from inception to completion.

  • Exceptional organization, communication and writing skills.

  • Outstanding analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a high-performance environment and proven ability to work well under pressure while adapting quickly to change.

  • Integrity, credibility, and a demonstrated commitment to the MRMA mission.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • The ideal candidate has proven experience in the manufacturing and logistics industries (distribution, waste management, and transportation) in building constituencies, in designing education and training programs, and a demonstrated passion for MRMAs mission.
