DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
* Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment to identify unsafe conditions that need improvement.
* Identifies and evaluates detrimental working conditions and makes adjustments to safeguard employee health.
* Researches and recommends safety equipment.
* Ensure general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company or plant personnel are in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
* Consult with all departments on design and use of equipment, shops, emergency preparedness and safety program
* Insure corrective action processes are in place for responding to and correcting safety audit findings.
* Keep managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with chemicals, and any other hazardous substances.
* Responsible for assuring all appropriate documentation (i.e. LOTO, Safe Work Permits, Safe Working Procedures) is current and updated at all times.
* Ability to work in a team environment & maintain regular attendance.
* Participate in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, litigation, and insurance investigations. Assist managers and supervisors in accident/incident reporting.
* Reviewing of all safety incident reporting forms prior to distribution
* Compile and submit accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
* Devise, supervise, and coordinate training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
* Prepare and arrange safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences and exhibitions.
* Spend 40 percent of time in plant, covering all shifts
* Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
* Maintain safety files and records.
* Assist managers to implement the Company's Policies and Best Management Practices.
* Promote incorporation of Safety into business planning
* Analyze accident/incident trends and recommend strategies to location managers that will assist in reducing accident/incident occurrence.
* Using safety management software and other tools, conduct inspections, audits and track corrective actions
* Partner with Corporate in the management of workers compensation claims
* Keep abreast of legislative changes and emerging issues, and inform managers of the changes and the required responses.
* Participate as a member of the ClosetMaid Safety Leadership team, facilitate monthly Ocala safety committee meetings, taking and posting of minutes
* Conduct new hire orientation safety training.
* Collaborate with training specialist facilitating power equipment training procedures.
* Conduct annual emergency evacuation and fire drills.
* Must be able to work overtime as business need dictates.
* Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs.
Required Qualifications :
Quality Responsibilities
* Partnership with the quality and lean teams will be required to promote synergies in the safety program, but no direct responsibilities will apply.

Education/Experience Requirements:
* 4 year degree with minimum of 4 to 6 years experience

Preferred:
* 4 year degree with a safety emphasis preferred, will evaluate equivalent credentials and experience.
* Safety Management in a Manufacturing Setting
* First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
