  • Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI), a national multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, with offices throughout Florida, is seeking experienced survey field crew personnel including Survey Party Chief, Instrument Person, and Rod Person for positions in the Ocala area.

  • Positions are initially temporary but may become full time after a 60 day probationary period. Full time benefits include medical/dental/vision plans, 401k, ESOP, and vacation/personal/sick time. Pay rate commensurate with experience.

  • Serves as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work, and providing direction in performing various land survey operations

  • Leads and participates in a variety of land survey operations such as boundary, topography, leveling, design, as-built, and maintaining horizontal and vertical control networks utilizing a full range of survey equipment

  • Prepares and verifies mathematical calculations related to surveying and basic engineering; computes and adjusts angles, distances, bearings, traverses, and elevations; interprets and computes field data, and evaluates for accuracy and completeness; maintains accurate survey- and non-survey-related records in the form of field notes, reports, and sketches; maintains vertical and horizontal control notes in files, field book, and computer

  • Conducts project research, secures equipment, uses safety techniques, performs the survey operation, handles the equipment, records data, and performs other associated duties for the purpose of delivering a successful project

  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records, logs, diaries, and/or other related documentation

  • Analyzes record data, deeds, and plats for property and boundary control

  • Answers questions and provides information to the public concerning surveying activities

  • Tracks and maintains survey supplies such as stakes and marking equipment; ensures safety devices are present and in use as appropriate; may place traffic control devices and/or direct traffic

  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level



Work Schedule:  Full-time

Salary: DOE.

Required Qualifications :


  • High school diploma or G.E.D.;

  • Additional coursework in GIS, engineering technology, or mathematics;

  • Five years of survey-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

  • Survey: Minimum 5 year

  • FDOT: Minimum 1 year


  • Working knowledge of standard survey procedures and use of a wide range of survey equipment. FDOT experience preferred.

  • Ability to work outdoors and in various conditions and terrains. Frequent walking and standing. Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying of items up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

  • Available for overnight travel within the state of Florida.

  • Valid driver's license including a clean driving record.
