DESCRIPTION: This Position is Eligible for the City's Student Loan Repayment Program
This is a professional and technical position involved in developing, implementing, enhancing, and maintaining all aspects of the internal information systems to support the Electric Utility's AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) operations. Reports to the Department Director or Designee
 
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Ensures the ongoing accuracy and stability of the Utility's AMI Information System.

  • Tracks and stores all information regarding the implementation and operation of the entire AMI system.

  • Creates advanced queries and reports on various data sources to detect errors and missing information using multiple reporting applications. (Crystal Reports, MS Access Reporting)

  • Provides end user training on new AMI reporting applications or AMI application enhancements.

  • Develops and implements information solutions.

  • Utilizes multiple programming languages and techniques for the purpose of grouping, analyzing, and correcting any abnormalities in the Utility's AMI system.

  • Reviews, analyzes, and modifies various applications and associated databases which may include design, programming, testing, debugging, documenting, and installing.

  • Consults with users and administrators to identify departmental application requirements and plan future procedures.

  • Assists in developing and deploying reports, databases, and applications.

  • Prepares clear and concise technical documentation and functional user documentation.

  • Assists in the evaluation and implementation of third-party applications and development tools where appropriate.

  • Provides supervisor with progress/status updates on a regular basis and ensures supervisor is informed of any scheduling delays or conflicts.

  • Communicates with field personnel on the operation and troubleshooting of the AMI system. Also directs the function of contract crews as they relate to the AMI field equipment.   


Annual Salary: $46,100.00 - $83,200.00

Required Qualifications :
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Information Technology and Business or related field. Minimum of five years of paid experience of a progressively responsible nature in application implementation/support and database/application management. An equivalent combination of training and professional experience may substitute for educational requirements.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operators Driver's License for required travel

  • Company conducts Motor Vehicle Records Check   


SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software: Access, Excel, and Word.

  • Experience in the use of various components of database design including tables, queries, forms, reports, scripts, macros.

  • Experience in application development using current programming techniques and standards (C/C++, Visual Basic)

  • Knowledge of relational database design and management with one or more of the following database management systems: MS SQL-Server, Oracle, MS Access.

  • Experience working with XML.

  • Experience with ad-hoc reporting tools.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve problems.

  • Ability to read and comprehend technical and business material to stay abreast of technology trends and changes.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing and convey ideas 

  • Possesses teamwork skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with the general public and team members.

  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.


Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in information applications development and relational database management. Relies on experience and judgment to perform the functions of the job and to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Assignments generally involve larger and more important projects or more than one project. Evaluates work requests, and provides accurate estimates of work effort and completion timeframes.
