Job Description :
Develops, implements and evaluates the department’s outreach and engagement strategies related to marketing, program brand development, assist with cultivating community partner relationships and volunteer coordination and in an effort to better connect the public to exceptional, accessible recreational programs, facilities, and services that are available. 

  Manages media plans and Department awareness campaigns, including but not limited to program guides, brochures, and other print/digital media, to ensure that brand standards are adhered to.

  Promote relationships with nonprofit partners seeking opportunities for collaboration in support of the Department.

  Meets and cooperatively works with citizens, community advocacy groups, schools, and other community partners and agencies regarding community needs related to parks & recreation and to plan programs and answer questions about the Department’s programs, facilities and services. 

Develops and makes routine presentations advancing the initiatives and programs of the department to internal and external stakeholder groups. 

Oversees and manages production of informational materials and print media including posters, rack cards, postcards, brochures, catalogues, booklets and other promotional pieces. Responsible for planning, developing and maintaining the department’s online presence. Oversees online media production of website, advertising and social media and updates site when needed. 

Acts as editor of the FunTimes newsletter, produced four times per year. Responsible for developing written content, assisting with final editing, managing the production, and distribution. 


Conducts research to determine target audiences for department programs, events and services. Include developing and implementing on-site and online surveys.

  Reviews professional publications and keeps abreast of the development in the marketing field, particularly as it applies to parks & recreation. Attends professional developments, seminars and workshops, to stay on top of trends in marketing, communication, social media and technology advancements. 

Attends regular meetings so that the team can collaborate and create short and long term Community engagement plans for programs, events, facilities and rental venues.

  Creates, implements and ensures compliance of public information, education and community relations program guidelines in consultation with the Public Relations Department, additionally ensuring quality assurance and customer satisfaction of these programs. 

Manages the photography and videography library. 

Researches and implements successful strategies to meet promotion and communications needs of a diverse department. 

Ability to travel and participate in evening and weekend activities as required. 

Ability to work long hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays) as requested.


Salary: $18.30 - $28.26
Required Qualifications :
Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in parks & recreation, community organization, communication, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management or an equivalent combination of 2 or more years’ education and work experience. 

Minors in, marketing, public speaking, advertising and/or graphic design preferred.
