Job Description :
The Community Food Bank of Citrus County, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a mission to acquire and distribute nutritious quality food to pantries, soup kitchens, and emergency shelters within Citrus County and together with our volunteers and donors we will promote public awareness, inspire community involvement, and strive to end hunger and nourish hope for those in need of our support. The Community Food Bank (CFB) has a network of 43 food agencies that partner with them to serve the clients in our community. The CFB is seeking a full time Executive Director to continue to lead the organization in partnership with a supportive and engaged board of directors and dedicated staff. The Executive Director will provide vision and direction for the organization, while playing the lead role in fund development, strategic thinking, and overall operations.


Our main facility and warehouse operations are located in Homosassa, Florida. Citrus County is a desirable small community with a population of approximately 140,000 people and offers a great environment to live and work and enjoy outdoor recreation activities. Staff members work out of the main facility/warehouse.


  • Providing vision and direction for the organization, including maintaining and securing relationships and funding support from individual donors, corporations, and foundations, as well as overseeing the organizations strategic direction.

  • Building relationships and collaborations with leaders of the community and represent the organization to the public.

  • Overseeing the creation and overall implementation of the approach to foundations, business leaders, and donors.

  • Supervising, hiring, and terminating (when appropriate) staff positions within the organization.

  • Acting as a liaison to the Board of Directors.

Work Schedule: 40 plus hours per week. Day shift. May require some evenings and weekends.

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 Annually, DOE, Will discuss with applicant

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Proficient computer skills required: Email, Excel Spreadsheet, Word etc.

  • Valid Driver's License for required travel

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

  • Five to ten years' experience as director or manager of a nonprofit organization, with extensive management and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to meet fundraising goals through individual donor and foundation cultivation

  • Experience creating and implementing strategic plans

  • Knowledge of economic and social trends and issues affecting those suffering from food insecurity

  • Experience with, and a commitment to working with, progressive and social justice organizations to enhance our ability to meet our mission, goals, and objectives

  • Knowledge of human service systems, public relations and marketing, capital development, fundraising for charitable causes, government agencies, organizational planning and human resources management

  • Experience working with boards of directors

  • Verbal and written communication skills, including familiarity with digital communication and engagement strategies, public speaking, media relations, and ability to build community contacts.
