Major Function

This is a managerial position related to the maintenance, operation, and improvement of the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion (SELP). This position is responsible for the promotion, management and administration of the facility including its effective use, event planning, and proper maintenance of the facility and all associated vehicles and equipment.


Essential Functions
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the work load.


 



  • Coordinates the daily management and operation of the SELP facilities and amenities. Responsible for marketing and securing events for the betterment of the community while maximizing the generation of revenue.

  • Coordinates the routine maintenance of the 4-H Farm and provides assistance to other departments as required.

  • Prepares appropriate summary reports, budgets, schedules and work orders for all staff, both facilities, their conditions and usage.

  • Responsible for meeting, contracting, planning, a wide range of various events, while coordinating and scheduling staff to provide excellent customer service to both external and internal customers.

  • Manages in-house staff and contractual personnel in the daily operation of the SELP facilities. Supervises, coordinates and directs subordinate supervisory personnel engaged in operations, maintenance and security.

  • Tracks revenues generated and expenses accrued for each type of event at the SELP.

  • Plans work schedules in-house improvement projects and inspects works in process. Leads in the preparation, review and approval of necessary bid documents in support of in-house projects.

  • Reviews completion of and coordinates acceptance of projects as part of the Capital Improvement Program with other senior staff members.

  • Inspects County property and facilities for safety hazards and required repairs.

  • Reviews and approves detailed work and reports and prepares personnel evaluations.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of an emergency action plan for the SELP.

  • Responsible for annual inventory of all SELP and 4-H Farm equipment and machinery.

  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of the SELP Master Plan, Strategic Plan and other operational initiatives and guiding documents.

  • Assists in the development of various policies and procedures and ensures compliance with such. Assists in establishing department goals and objectives, provides recommendations for the establishment of standards, procedures, department policies, forms and regulations, and evaluates progress toward accomplishment of assigned goals and objectives.

  • Ensures compliance with County and City of Ocala ordinances, facility rules and regulations as they relate to the operation and security of the SELP. Reports problems to law enforcement agencies.

  • Implements the organizations guiding principles and core values.



Required Qualifications :
Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications
Bachelor Degree from four year college or university; three years experience, including one year experience in facility management and one year experience in marketing, organizing and booking special events; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses
Valid Florida Driver's License for required travel.
