Job Description :
This is a supervisory position maintaining, marketing, and protecting County parks, facilities, recreational sites, rendering public services, managing revenue-based parks. Coordinates facilities and maintenance operations.

Essential Functions
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the work load.

  • Enforce established county/department rules/policies/procedures. 

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with local, state, federal agencies, as well as neighbors. 

  • Ensure adequate financial controls are in place. 

  • Track data including user numbers, revenues and expenses.

  • Assist in forecasting activities including future needs of KP Hole (both operating and capital). 

  • Responsible for supervising and scheduling full-time, part-time, and summer seasonal staff.

  • Assists with supervision of assigned district projects. Researches, conducts, and reports on specific projects related to facilities and special events. 

  • Assists with planning outdoor recreation events and programs. 

  • Assists with supervision of daily operations of all facilities and parks in assigned geographic area. Includes office and field duties, coordinating and performing field management activities, and other program activities.

  • Markets and books reservations for facilities. Researches, recommends, and oversees outside vendor services and/or contractual obligations.

  • Assists with the planning and management of maintenance, park services, revenue, and capital projects. 

  • Responsible for user safety, compliance with rules, laws etc.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of emergency procedures.  Inspects facilities to prevent fires, vandalism, and theft. Enforces County ordinances, park rules and regulations. Reports problems to law enforcement agencies.

  • Responsible for resource management and compliance with environmental regulations.

  • Assists in the development of major policy decisions of department. Assists with preparation of department budget.

  • Prepares and submits reports of visitor events, contracts, accidents, and equipment used. Estimates costs of necessary supplies and procures supplies and materials. Responsible for cash handling and revenue procedures.

  • Assists in creation and implementation of strategic and capital improvement program.

  • Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned schedule.

Secondary Functions

  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Customer Service
This is a front-line position for providing excellent customer service to members of the general public and other County employees. Personal contact occurs with other employees of the unit, employees of other departments in the County, citizens, and customers of the department. Service is provided in person and by phone contact.

Responsible for directly and regularly supervising work of a relatively small number of employees (two or more), and some indirect supervision. Includes assigning, directing, evaluating, and reviewing work of subordinate employees. Responsibilities include providing on-the-job training; evaluating job performance; recommending selection of new staff members, promotions, status changes, and discipline; and planning, scheduling, and coordinating work operations.

Required Qualifications :
Education and Experience
Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years supervisory and one year outdoor recreational experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Valid Florida Driver License for required travel.


  • Current First Aid and Safety Certification and BLS CPR certification within ninety days of hire. Playground Safety Inspector and Code Enforcement Training. Safe food handlers licensed required within six months from hire date.
