SUMMARY


The Safety & Training Specialist ensures all team members are working in the safest way possible. Additionally, the Safety & Training Specialist is responsible for new team member training, job skill training and conducting group training classes for team members as needed. This position also requires the gathering and checking of documented information to ensure compliance with internal procedures, state and federal regulations




 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Coordinates and presents classes in all areas of product knowledge, standard work, and safety procedures

  • Coordinates training schedule for new hires with the supervisor

  • Conducts regular plant audits to ensure that all team members are following standard procedures and working in a safe manner

  • Formulates and suggests improvements in ergonomics, process flow and work safety standards and enforces procedures. Risk prevention areas include hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, or other unsafe conditions

  • Maintains up to date training matrix for all team members

  • Meets compliance and reporting requirements of federal or state regulations

  • Works with management to sustain continuous improvement in efficiency, training and safety programs

  • Conduct safety and health walk-through inspections of all workplace facilities

  • Conduct accident/injury investigations and illness exposure monitoring

  • Monitor and investigate “near-miss” situations

  • Maintain required training, safety and health documents/files

  • Responsible for development and administration of strategic safety plan

  • Plans, organizes, and effectively conducts team member training on various skill, policy, and compliance areas

  • Manages new team member training beginning with orientation and continuing with job skill training and documentation

  • Collaborates with internal cross-functional team members, outside consultants and training providers to deliver training

  • Evaluates and modifies existing or proposed programs; suggests and implements suitable changes

  • Performs other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Modern office environment including access to computer facilities is provided. A team member in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to Company policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required. A team member in this position must focus on customer's expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers and other team members.


 




PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk or hear. The team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The team member is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The team member must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Schedule: Full-time


This position is based in Ocala, Florida. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. It will be the responsibility of the successful candidate to arrange accommodation to Ocala.

Required Qualifications :

QUALIFICATIONS


 


  • Coaching and presentation skills

  • MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote) & other computer programs

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision

  • Interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to create and maintain training matrix and team member records and other reporting as required

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals

  • Proficient with federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations and terminology relating to occupational medicine, safety, and ADA requirements

  • Ability to learn the manufacturing and production skills necessary to train new team members

  • Must have ability to work a flexible schedule and rotate between shifts as training needs dictate


 


EDUCATION

Associate degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Specialist areas of experience preferred:



  • At least five years of experience in related field highly desired

  • Experience developing, implementing and administering factory-based training programs

  • OSHA 500 & 510 certified
