Summary


The Senior Buyer will demonstrate leadership and high energy to coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services from International and Domestic sources such as finished goods, raw materials, capital equipment, tools, parts and supplies, and / or services, considering price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply on behalf of the company.


Major Responsibilities:


 * Develop strategies and total best cost planning for assigned commodities and execute.


 * Responsible for negotiating long-term and short-term transactions with suppliers.


 * Perform supply market analysis and follow supply industry trends and technology changes.


 * Engage in new product development processes and communicate internally with the group to develop accurate supply chain activities for new and ongoing projects.  Act as liaison between external department stakeholders and internal department team members.  Coordinate flow of information, provide guidance and leadership to procurement staff (international and domestic) in support of product development.


 * Manage and predict purchase price variance (PPV) of assigned commodities.  Responsible for complete and accurate purchase pricing of all assigned raw and finished goods provided by outside supply base.


 * Understand and negotiate payment terms favorable to meet cash flow goals.


 * Keep a pulse on Best Cost Country Opportunities as they relate to assigned commodities.  Identify, investigate and recommend new sources of supply.


 * Develop and review requisitions for content and accuracy as required.  Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.


 * Visit suppliers to evaluate their facilities, capacity and ability to meet requirements, specifications, and delivery dates.


 * Prepare, develop, and review reverse auction process, including detailed bid information, analyze detailed results, negotiation, and execution of contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.  Negotiate, and execute contracts.


 * Maintain procurement records for items or services that are procured, such as: price, delivery, product quality or performance, inventories, etc.


 * Advise Management on a continuing basis regarding: commodity cost trends, material availability, alternative materials; make vs. buy options, and supplier risk.


 * Investigate and approve invoices for payment.  Expedite delivery of goods to customers from order entry to delivery (internal or external) as required.

Required Qualifications :
EDUCATION:
* Bachelors Degree in Business or related Field



RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
* 3 -5 years
Or equivalent amount of education and experience

CORE COMPETENCIES:
* Strong PC skills including the Microsoft Office Suite


* Assist in developing successful programs that will enhance sales, providing customer-specific knowledge


* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision


* Ability to access multiple tasks and develop a plan to complete them in a logical and efficient manner


* Ability to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action as needed and be prepared for possible contingencies




CERTIFICATES/LICENSURE:

* CPSM or C.P.M. and C.P.I.M preferred

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
* Primarily limited to local travel with occasional overnight travel
